Microsoft launches Windows Phone 7

Microsoft officially unveiled its new mobile operating system at a press event held this morning in New York City. Rather than an update to its Windows Mobile platform, Windows Phone 7 is an entirely new effort, built from the ground-up to regain market share lost against the likes of Apple, RIM and Google in recent years. The company described its software as "different" and more modern, with a focus on how "real people want to use their phones."

From a user’s perspective the most significant change Windows Phone 7 brings is a user interface organized around what Microsoft calls “Hubs”. Instead of a flat screen offering a series of application icons, live-updating tiles on the Windows Phone 7 home screen will alert users with relevant information such as new text messages, missed calls, voicemails and more. Hubs are grouped according to the tasks they perform and will deliver non-phone related info as well, like live Twitter and Facebook updates, while offering tight integration with other Microsoft products like Office, Bing or Xbox Live.

In total there are six Windows Phone Hubs that will come pre-loaded on Windows Phone 7 handsets: the People Hub, Pictures Hub, Music + Video Hub, Games Hub, Office Hub and the Marketplace. Third-party developers can build their own applications and Hubs using Microsoft's provided development tools and then submit them to the marketplace.

Microsoft’s mobile platform will ship on a variety of hardware devices from multiple manufacturers. The event featured a brief display of nine Windows Phone 7 devices from Dell, HTC, LG and Samsung offering a variety of form factors – check Engadget’s coverage for specs and hands-on impressions. The new software will be available starting November 8 on AT&T and T-Mobile’s networks, with around 60 mobile operators worldwide in 30 countries following soon after.

How To Uninstall Add-ons In Firefox 4

A lot of things are getting changed in the Firefox web browser. A big part are made up of interface changes, that are supposed to optimize the interaction of the user with the browser. The Firefox add-on manager for instance has been totally revamped, now loading up in a tab instead of a window.
But that’s not the only changes that Firefox 3 users need to get used to when it comes to the new add-on manager. Users who take a closer look at the information listed under extensions will notice that there are only buttons to open an add-on’s options, and to enable or disable it.

On a personal note, the whole new add-on listing feels hard to read and impractical to me, but that is not the point of this article. So, how are add-ons uninstalled in Firefox 4? Let us look at a closeup:
firefox uninstall addons
Do you see it? That little x next to the date of one of the add-ons listed in the about:addons menu? That’s how you uninstall add-ons. A tooltip appears if you move the mouse cursor over the x.
uninstall addon
A click on the x shrinks the size of the row, and displays options to restart the browser and to undo the removal. The information is easy to miss among all the other links and colors in the manager.
remove addon
Some add-ons can still not be uninstalled directly from within the add-ons manager. That’s for instance true for add-ons that are added during third party software installations. Especially security software “like” to add extensions to the browser that way.
That’s something the developers should prioritize if you ask me. Why have they made the decision to place that tiny x there for the uninstall functionality? I do not know, but there are other means that appear to make more sense, like adding another button next to Options and Disable, or making use of the space above the two existing buttons.

Google Tips

It seems that now a days Google is making changes quite frequently. I do not know the reason but definitely I would like to know about it. In last two weeks we have published lots ‘n’ lots of news regarding the changes made by Google in their features. Lets hope that something really good will come out of it. So, now Google has decided to shut-down a feature which was famous for finding businesses in USA and can be called as voice-directory service.

With the help of this feature you can find any business in USA quite easily. This feature was enabled on the all the OS used on mobile like Apple phones, Symbian phones, Windows phones and Android phones were equipped to use it. As you can get an idea by it name that it was a voice based service where you were supposed to take the name of the business in USA and Canada and then it will direct to that business by checking its entry in the directory database of Google. But now this feature will be disabled and like every time Google has a habit to think for the ease of their users.
So, they have decided that an analogous feature named as phone-calling feature which has been enabled in Gmail can do the same for you. There you can call any one in USA and Canada without any cost and you can also go for the international calls at a very low call rates. Even if you do not want to use this service in laptop and you are comfortable while using it on you mobile, then you can go for sending a text message with the name and the location of the business written in it and then send it to 466453 and then you will receive an SMS in which the phone number will be written of that particular business.
Now, let me tell you that sooner or later Microsoft and other brands in competition will also start with their frequent improvements as no one can see anyone else running so fast, but your are not supposed to worry as we will be updating with all the important news. Meanwhile if you come across any good news which has been missed by us then please do not forget to mention it, as we will try to search more on it and then share with all of our readers.

Facebook Toolbar

Many Internet users dislike toolbars, which largely stems from the fact that some companies use questionable means to force their toolbars on the user’s system. Not all toolbars are “evil” though, and there are certainly some that may prove to be useful.
The Facebook Toolbar may be one of them, but only if the user is a die hard Facebook addict who wants to stay in the loop all the time and interact with Facebook without being on the site.
On first glance, the Facebook toolbar looks like a lot of other toolbars. It has the usual assortment of buttons and a search form on it. None of these functions can be used without logging in to Facebook first. The toolbar has a Facebook login link on the right side.

Alternatively, a login popup is displayed if any of the features are accessed prior to logging in.
